This is an update to my review from over one year ago.
The ASDA superstore on Abbey Lane in Leicester offers a comprehensive shopping experience with a wide range of products, including groceries, clothing, and electronics.
The store also features a well-maintained little restaurant, clean restrooms, a bakery, and parcel collection points. The extensive clothing section and the regular introduction of new items add to the shopping appeal.
A key convenience is the petrol station, which often offers the lowest fuel prices in town, though it is only open until 10 PM while the store is open. Additionally, there is a charging station for electric vehicles in one corner of the car park, but be aware that the maximum free stay is up to 3 hours.
While the store itself is large and well-maintained, the entrance to the car park has deteriorated this year, with many potholes requiring urgent attention. This issue detracts from the overall positive shopping experience, resulting in one star being taken off for the car park entry. Action is required to address this problem promptly.
Update 27/07/24 I would like to add that carpark has been fixed with new lines and smooth tarmac. Well done, Asda.
5 stars, merely for Paul, the head of security. As the first guy you see on the way in, ans the last guy you see on the way out, it’s important to have the right person and he is exactly that!
Great smile, happy to have a little chat but you can see he is still checking the cameras and people, he’s just always on it!
Tall security guard actet like a street thug definitely not trained properly went into buy a lottery ticket first then had a quick look around .they were clearly seeing what I was doing with there cameras just because I didn’t buy anything they ordered me search my bag.
Both of security needs to go back to the training school.
Self service is awful. Needed someone to confirm your using your own bags, but every time the staff manning it are always too busy chatting to each other or just wondered off or just ignoring all the red lights. It’s a simple job, really how hard is it. Yet I was stood waiting for at least 5 mins today. I went to go to a manned till, but there was only 1 on with a super long queue all with big trollies. I asked security if I could just go to the kiosk/customer service desk but he said no as it’s only for cigarettes and lottery, which isn’t true because they have the food to go sandwiches and drinks there. Other Asda’s are never as bad as this on.
We went to the Asda cafe for breakfast. Although the food was lovely, they were not able to offer a milk alternative meaning I was unable to have a coffee with my food.
Also, 2 of the toilets were blocked with toilet roll and the others had poo in the toilets. Very unpleasant.
