  1. Very disappointed after ordering a takeaway from this restaurant, the food was very under seasoned and bland. The chicken had no flavour even in the sauce. My daughter ordered the chicken korma expecting a creamy style sauce with the chicken, but it was filled with onions peppers and other vegetables. The whole point of her having a korma was to keep it plain and simple. After spending £60 for the 3 of us we expected to at least get what we ordered. Will not be returning.

  2. Been coming here for a sit down and takeaway for many years and with Indian and south Asian food being my favourite food I have tried many restaurants up and down the UK and Ashoka is definitely up there with the best, I felt it had a dip some 10 years+ ago but have been back over the last 3 on many occasions and the quality is truly back to being high end again especially with a sit down. Seeing the same faces year on year is a real positive and it’s a great family restaurant. See you next Friday. Martyn.

  3. I’m a Curry-holic, travel the world and experience different food and hospitality.

Greeted by a friendly waiter food was ordered.

Poppadoms with accompanying dips were okay although salty.

The meat somosas were nothing to shout about, shop brought mass produced, not home/ restaurant made and quite bland.

Chicken Pathia Madras hot had nice flavours but unfortunately the chicken was tough texture and obviously been pre cooked and reheated in the sauce/ gravy.

Keema naan bread with Garlic and Coriander was tasty and freshly made but again salty.

Not sure if there’s a underlying reason to get you to drink more?

It’s not the worst but I have had a lot better.

Shame about the overzealous use of salt but good to see there wasn’t floods of ghee on the surface of the dish.

Just as a footnote, the restaurant has NOT renewed it’s licence due to Covid 19 so only soft drinks are available.

  4. I’ve been here twice with my friend. It’s absolutely beautiful indian food. I have lived in many places, and this is up there with the best Indian food I have tasted. Thank you. 😊
