Barnes & Noble

1. Friendly staff, but some questionable practices. Picked up a copy of Munchkin and found that the box had been crushed /damaged, then poorly repaired with some masking tape. Went back into the store and asked if I could exchange it for a non damaged copy, which was immediately granted. As I walked away, the employee didn’t even wait to put the damaged box right back on the shelf.

   When I got home, I found that my new copy was yet again damaged, although to a lesser extent. Not a big enough deal to drive all the way back to the shop, but still… It’s not something that I’d expect from a premier chain like Barnes & Noble. I understand that book chains have been hit hard by the rise of Amazon and other home delivery services, but are things really so bad that busted products are being peddled at full value, then being put right back on the shelf after being returned?

   Maybe at least consider putting a discount on something that’s been damaged. Am I to expect that a book with water damage would be on the shelf in a similar manner?

2. I love book stores.
   They just smell of knowledge.
   Whether it’s local bookstores or chain one.
   Barnes at this location is no exceptions.
   Workers there also seem to love working with books.
   This location is clean, well stocked and for what they don’t have in stock, they often offer special orders.
   We went in there just looking for the next book to read and came out with more than we were even thinking about.
   Definitely recommend.

3. The staff was friendly. I was greeted twice, and all my questions were answered. Had a nice with the cashier about some of the books I was buying.

4. Huge thanks to Tegan! I have twice picked books she had put those little white notecards on with a quick review of the book – the ones that sit on the boooshelf. Today she happened to walk up, and recommended me a book! So funny, but I started reading and it’s great! So that’s 3 Tegan recommendations I’ve loved so far!

5. Always a joy to come here with my friends. That new book smell always gets me! The employees are always happy to help you, and the folks at the register always strike up a convo about your purchases. Some people might not like the interactions, but for me and makes it worth comming back!
