September 2024:
Friends recommended this place for the Sunday Roast. So of course we had to try it.
I ordered the sirloin steak special and my wife had the leg of lamb roast. Both were tasty but my steak was a little tough.
Fixings on the side included Yorkshire pudding, fried potatoes (which was oddly very tough), carrots (which were very tasty), kale and cabbage (the best)!
Overall, enjoyed my first Sunday Roast meal. I would come back again to try a different meat next time.
Service was friendly and attentive.
It’s very difficult to get a booking on weekends in any branch of Blacklock and we were fortunate enough to get one at 16:45 on a Saturday, even though it’s a bit early for dinner, we were delighted! The atmosphere and the service was warm and busy! Everything tasted so lovely. The pig’s head on toast was the highlight for me, which was so tender and rich. My mom liked the prime ribs and we both enjoyed the beef dripping chips and the walnut and broccoli salad. The cheesecake was the all time favor 🙂
One of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had. Me and my bf wanted to come here the last time we were in London, but it was booked up when we went, so we made sure to book a couple of weeks in advance before we came this time.
The waiter that served me, my bf and his friend was so friendly and helpful. The vibes inside the restaurant is so warm and cozy, I wish I had taken some pics of the interior.
We went with the All In option which I think is a great option especially as we were all able to choose a side each. We also got some garlic marrow and some blacklock gravy to go with it. The chips, sweet potato, and baby gems all tasted delicious as well. It was so good that we didn’t speak to each other until we had finished all the food off 😂. To finish off I decided to get their cheesecake which I thought tasted amazing, and also a very large amount served to my surprising.
We went for a Sunday roast yesterday and all I can say is wow.
We tried the ‘all in’ as we didn’t know which of the meats we would like most. The beef was by far the best and the one I’d return to. I’m not usually fond of pork but this loin was tasty. The lamb was my least favourite, I felt like I tasted more of the fat than the meat. I’d still recommend doing the all in to have a taste of everything but looking forward to returning and going for the beef rump.
The trimmings of Yorkshire pudding, potatoes, cabbage and carrots were all lovely too, but really the real star of the show was the gravy. I was told they start cooking it on a Tuesday and serve it on a Sunday, and you can truly taste the love and attention they put into it. Phenomenal.
We also had the cheesy cabbage and a gorgeous bottle of Malbec wine, both of which I can recommend.
We finished off with the white chocolate cheesecake following viral recommendations on TikTok. It was nice to finish the meal but nothing incredible.
All in all very looking forward to coming back!
My husband and I had just arrived in London and were famished. We didn’t have reservations but came early and were seated with the stipulation that they needed our table a mere two hours later (no problem). The host was super friendly and gave us travel tips for our trip, our server was timely and also provided excellent recommendations.
My husband had, in his words, the best burger he’s had in Europe (he’s been living here for a year). I had the Denver steak. It was an excellently prepared lean cut. That, combined with the tomato salad and the 15 hour roasted sweet potatoes made for deliciously satisfying but not guilt ridden meal.
Make sure you save space for dessert! My apple crumble paled next to my husband’s cheesecake served tableside with warm berry compote. They were both worth every bit of it.
The only reason for the 4 star on atmosphere is the fact that it got very busy and was a bit loud (no soft surfaces to absorb the lively conversations).
We really enjoyed every bit of our experience and highly recommend!
