A humongous bookshop spread over two locations displaying all popular book genres. It’s very easy to navigate and find what you are looking for. Some soft seating is available. The store was understaffed so there can be a wait time when you’re at the registers. Overall a pleasant experience.
Wow! I’ve visited bookshops around the world but the basement in this place is absolutely mind blowing. There is a section on even the most eclectic genres. Staff are passionate and knowledgeable. Atmosphere is calming. We spent over an hour here and could have stayed longer. This was the highlight of our Oxford trip!
Such an impressive bookstore, with a real sense of history. Incredible that such a store can thrive in the 21st Century of online books & content (though I’ve been told that they’ve had to contract their footprint during COVID). Equally interesting to note that the nearby shops had music, and across the street was one devoted to Manga and graphic novels of similar ilk, plus games, to stay relevant to today’s audience and customers. The underground section of the original bookshop was what truly impressed, but I was equally amused that one had to climb 2 flights of stairs to find the coffee shop!
Posting pictures from two different branch but opposite each other.
One is from the smaller shop which sells comics/mangas/marvel and all sorts of same genre.
The other one is from the big shop. It’s astonishing what’s hiding inside. Book lovers haven for sure.
I’ve seen people reading and sitting nicely inside. Some of them dozed off too 😅
Stunning collection of bookshops, mostly under one roof, but some a brief walk. Excellent service, polite and courteous to each customer in the short queue. Well curated selection of timely books of likely interest are on display for browsing.
