  1. This thatched pub has real character built in 1380, looks tiny from outside but don’t be fooled, there is a small bar area at the rear with an outside seating area that’s perfect on a sunny day and a downstairs dining area we sat in the upstairs restaurant this was very nice and suitable for larger groups.
The staff are very friendly and helpful.
The food was top class, lovely pint of Bierre moretie and they also had a good selection of real ales too, there is a large car park across the road if traveling by car and we saw a regular bus stop near by.

  2. We had such a great experience at the Blue Anchor Inn. We stopped off here while on a coastal drive over this past Easter. We walked in just in time for Sunday roast time and we were very happy we did! The staff were very lovely and kind. It was super cozy and it feels like you are transported back in time. Multiple times while I was there I kept imagining what it would’ve been like to be having a drink by the fire 600 years ago! The food was very good! I enjoyed the turkey roast immensely! Only negative I was that they gave the two of us just a few too many potatoes and I felt so badly that we couldn’t take them with us. I highly recommend a stop here if you are nearby.

  3. First night in Wales and the blue anchor was recommended to us and a gorgeous place it is. Excellent service, good food and such a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended

  4. The Blue Anchor Inn is a traditional pub with a wide range of beers and ales both bottled and on tap.

I’ve been here a few times with my family and I think the food is brilliant. This time around my mother had the Thai Green Curry and I had the Roast Pork.

The Pork was fantastic and I really loved how crispy the crackling was, I’d highly recommend it to anyone that loves cracking as much as I do.

The Inn is dog friendly however dogs are only welcome either outside or in the bar area. We came in while it was -4°c outside into a warm restaurant with a fire, which was a nice touch.

An enjoyable experience and will be back again soon.

  5. Beautiful country cottage pub and restaurant in Rhoose, Barry. Immaculately kept place built in 1380 , I’m sure the walls in the place could tell stories of years gone by. Large beer garden situated at the front of the pub was quite full with families and groups enjoying the sunshine. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable about the history of the place. The restaurant is situated on the 1st floor , beautifully set out tables welcomed us . The food is amazing, varied menu ranging from succulent steaks to freshly battered fish . Myself and my partner both went for the fillet of beef stroganoff with basmati rice . Our friends went for 2 other dishes, the deep fried fillet of hake with mushy peas and home cut chips . And the roasted rump of lamb , green and broad beans with roasted cherry tomatoes and dauphinois potatoes. Not a scrap was left on any plate . I highly recommend this place and too book in advance as it was busy as we were leaving . 10/10 from me 👍
