Food is amazing. Had the Sunday roast fondu (You have to book for this specifically on the website) only criticism on food would be that the Yorkshire pudding was slightly burnt on the edges. Besides this the meat was cooked perfectly and was an excellent cut of steak! Potatoes were fluffy with a crispy outside and great rosemary and sea salt favours. Service was below par if I’m honest. Took a while to get food ordered and once we finished we weren’t seen to or asked if we’d like any extras. By the time we’d got the attention of a waitress the kitchen was closed, this was at 21:30 yet the last booking is at 21:00 – 22:45?? Also took them 30 minutes to get our bill. They automatically add a 10% service charge to your bill too. Would absolutely recommend this place for food but expect slow service and definitely book earlier than 20:00.
What a find this was. With a range of table options and delicious food, we highly recommend this restaurant which is nicely out of the bustle of the city, yet close to the Kelvingrove Museum and University Cloisters.
I love Brel. Moules Frites every time with the delicious soda bread for mopping up the sauce. Also love their selection of beers taking me back to my visit to Brussels and Bruges. Very nice indoor and outdoor seating with option to hire a firepit. Great beer garden.
I intended to post this a long while ago but time ran away with me. Despite that the service that day has remained in my mind so I wanted to share.
I met a friend who was going through a tough time for a catch up. We sat outside and it was pretty empty, but despite it being quiet the staff were all busy and super attentive. We were served by Anthony who brought us food and it was amazing. After Antony finished their shift, we went to the bar to order some more drinks, and the new bar tender knew exactly, who we were, what table were sat and what we were drinking, saying they would bring it over. I believe their name was Rosie. We hardly had to say a thing.
That handover of information between staff just made our experience feel so smooth and we felt so looked after and special. I just wanted to give these two members of staff a wee shout out for their seamless customer service 🙂
I hope I got their names right. But we had a lovely experience. Thank you Brel team.
Food was barely OK, not impressive, as average as it can be. Service was nice and efficient.
Their location within Ashton lane, the nice garden & indoor service area are the highlight here I would say, very cozy and welcoming loved my table and they are dogs friendly.
