Pretty unfriendly/actively hostile service. Ordered two hot drinks. Latte was atrocious. Didn’t mind and accepted with a smile. Went to swap my dirty tea cup for a clean one and was summarily handed a takeaway because “there aren’t any clean ones left. We close in 10 minutes.” This was at 2.50pm on a Friday. Ok then… Thanks for letting me order 2 dine in drinks for myself two minutes ago! Not how you do it guys.
I love the atmosphere in this place. Staff are very friendly, the coffee is delicious and made well, and the cakes are excellent, especially for such reasonable prices. I can recommend the mini mocha cake. There is also a lovely view of the Oxford city centre from the windows. Massive respect to all the staff running the cafe so efficiently during the busy Christmas period. Recommend this place as somewhere to study, work, relax or catch up with friends.
Really nice student cafe (not just for students but they go there a lot!). You can often share a table or a bench with other students or intellectuals and therefore start an interesting conversation. It’s inside the Waterstones bookstore so warm and interesting. The bookstore has a great vibe and every level is accessible by lift.
Lovely space with nice views of Oxford! The coffee was lovely but having some keep cup discounts will be nicer. The sandwiches were able to be warmed up which was a nice touch but not many vegetarian options so having some savoury baked goods with some salad can be really nice. If it is possible to also have filter coffee options will be even nicer.
As we came it was around the morning of a week day and as we came for a catch up so many people came in and opened their computers and started to work. I think having some section for working guests could be nice but having some for customers who want to talk can be nice so that we didn’t felt like we were disturbing the others.
Could be great but isn’t. Nice location and calm vibe but tea cup was dirty, no spoon or milk with tea or tray – had to probe the person serving for everything. People serving had long hair that wasn’t tied up – didn’t think was great given they were serving food.
