The atmosphere and service was amazing. The setting, lighting and music were spectacular. The food however was just okay. The starters were good but the mains were a little disappointing as was the lemon tart especially given the price.

I recently received an email from Casa Cruz announcing they now offer a Sunday roast, so I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, it was a deeply disappointing experience and was soon to realise it was false advertising. What they served was a sad, empty plate of meat with a tiny drizzle of gravy—nothing else. No trimmings, no accompaniments—hardly what anyone would call a proper Sunday roast.
When I asked about the missing elements, I was told sides were sold separately, which I wouldn’t have minded if any of the sides available resembled what you’d expect with a Sunday roast. Not one of them fit the bill. The experience felt like a missed opportunity for what could have been a standout addition to their menu.
To add to the strangeness, the restaurant was playing continuous Arabic music. While I actually enjoy and listen to Arabic music, it felt completely out of place in an Argentinian restaurant, adding to the overall confusion and lack of cohesion in the experience.
After living next door to this restaurant for years, I never felt particularly drawn to try it—until now, at 30. My partner made the reservation weeks in advance to ensure everything went smoothly, given the hype surrounding this place. Unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations.
Having spent my entire London life in Notting Hill, where the dining scene is incredibly competitive, I was hoping for something special. The food, however, was just okay—nothing that lived up to the buzz. While the staff were genuinely warm and accommodating (even on a busy night), we sat for 40 minutes without receiving a menu, which left us ready to leave after finishing our champagne. Thankfully, a delightful woman at the next table turned the evening around with great conversation, which was ultimately what convinced us to stay for dinner.
All in all, this isn’t somewhere I feel compelled to return to, even for special occasions. Notting Hill has so many exceptional options like Core, The Ledbury, Tavernaki, Gold, Osteria Napoletana, Empire Empire and Al Waha. If you’re looking for a memorable meal, I’d recommend exploring those instead.
Great restaurant for an intimate dinner with friends . Highly attentive staff, friendly relaxed atmosphere . The Negronis were delish. The wine recommended to complement our food as outstanding . Recommend the steak de boeuf.
