My wife and I visited for a Sunday roast as we’d heard good things. We weren’t disappointed! The food here was lovely, I had the beef, my wife had chicken.
The portion sizes were really generous and it was cooked exactly how we like a roast to be. Really appreciate the veg being served to the side – the mash in particular was lovely!
Had a Ferrero Rocher Cheescake for desert – absolute perfection.
Everyone at Castell-y-Bwch was really attentive to us during our visit and we both felt very welcome. We’ll be visiting again for sure!
Food is lovely and friendly staff making sure everything was ok with our meal
Great spot for families. 2 Play areas for kids, cosy dining inside, decent grub and lovely viewing terrace over the valley.
Absolutely beautiful food , very friendly staff and a really good atmosphere. Asked for something different than chips and the chef did it for me The mashed potato was delicious as was the gammon,my friend had cod and chips and he can moan for Wales 🏴 and he thoroughly enjoyed it. The waitress even though very busy was very professional and friendly. Given that and the beautiful surroundings. Also great if you have children as there is a lot for them to do ,and they welcome families. Also a good selection of drinks.
First time here under the new owners on Saturday.
Were told there would be a 30 to 40 minute wait, which we accepted as we had not booked, so ordered some food and prepared for a wait.
After about an hour I asked how much longer and was tools the ticket hadn’t printed out in the kitchen so our order had not been started. It would be a further 15 to 20 minutes. As we were hungry we said OK.
When the food arrived my Hunter’s Chicken looked very nice, although served on a piece of slate with the chips (didn’t look home made) in a little bucket and not really enough space to tip them out. I would prefer a more traditional plate.
My wife’s Carbonara however looked like a disaster area. Supposed to be in a creamy sauce with white wine, it was just floating in a sea of oil or grease and not a sign of any cheese and lacking in taste. We were offered a 15% discount, but as we had already missed the movie we had booked decided to leave. We left without eating and doubt we will ever go back. Ended up in a Brains pub, getting served a lovely meal for a lower price and much faster service.
Sad because this used to be one of our favourite places before the Pandemic.
