We came for a lunch and I was really positively surprised by the quality of the food being a French myself. We ordered the beef / fries and trout. They were both very tasty. The fries crusty outside and soft inside, the trout was very tasty with the tomatoes / truffle sauce. All was delicious. I really recommend. It is a bit on the pricey side with dishes above 20 pounds. But it was worth it. The staff is nice and decoration cosy.
Delightful restaurant. Supremely cosy and romantic spot. The food is delicious: all feels very authentic with both French bistro classics and some warming home-recipes. Also, I speak with no hyperbole when I say the frites here are the best I’ve had anywhere…
The staff are lovely, always very welcoming and the overall atmosphere is spot on. It’s very reasonably priced too.
Overall it’s our favourite local restaurant; I highly recommend.
Fabulous bistro and nice food. Would highly recommend the duck leg, snails, chicken liver, and the lamb though it would be better if the lamb is less salty. And the frog leg is bit small. Anyways people here are friendly🥰
We were craving some French food and stumbled upon this little gem in Brick Lane. We started with the rillette, which was simply amazing — the flavours were rich and full of depth. For our mains, we had two onglets with fries and lettuce. I have an allergy to mustard, and they kindly made a special dressing just for me, which I really appreciated. The portions were generous, and the food was delicious.
For dessert, we couldn’t resist and ordered three: the crepe suzette had a lovely flavour, and the tarte tatin tasted just like something your grandma would bake fresh from the oven — truly handmade and comforting. We also tried the pistachio crème brûlée. While I’m a huge fan of both pistachio and crème brûlée, I personally prefer the original crème brûlée version.
At first, we were a little put off by a somewhat cold waiter, but then the owner took over and completely changed the atmosphere. She was so warm and lovely, making the entire experience feel much more welcoming.
Highly recommend this place, and we’ll definitely be back! Real French restaurant, approved by French and Mexican 🙂
Had dinner at this French bistro on brick lane.
The place itself is very quaint and the waiters were friendly enough.
I was slightly disappointed with the food though, the beef onglet was a bit plain and the fries very oily.
I really didn’t like the creme brûlée, it was very cold you could tell it was taken out of the fridge seconds before it being served.
Overall it was an alright experience but I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this place.
You can find great French food elsewhere for a similar price!
