Have been to lots of Coffee#1 but this is the best by far. Somehow the others have terribly slow service but this one, with the same level of staffing, just does it better. Whenever I walk from Temple Meads or Portwall Lane I call in here. Try the giant tea cake too!
I went towards the end of the day. They were short staffed and only serving in paper cups and not sure what the bun was on. The cake was dry. A bit disappointing. Atmosphere good and staff pleasant.
Usually satisfied with the quality of the coffees and customer service but the last two visits have been very poor. The women on the counter (who was there the last two times) came across as tired and fed up – it was 07:00. We ordered a large cappuccino with sugar. She served us with the coffees without the sugar and with an unfilled large coffee. Being served with an unfriendly face and the low quality and even quantity of the coffees was highly disappointing.
Amazing hot chocolate and moca. Best of all coffee shops in the area. The coffee taste is amazing plus the chocolate create probably the best combination that you could order.
Moreover you have very nice views and also a terrace for the sunny days.
The personell is very effective and nice and there are sofas as well as books that you could use and spend the whole afternoon or morning here enjoying the coffee and silence. Also the frappes are a great option for the summer coming, refreshing and tasty.
Highly recommended.
I searched all round Bristol for a place that actually made and sold coffee and not watered down espresso (why so many place don’t understand the difference is beyond me). They brew their coffee in batches and had an Ethiopian mellow blend and a sweet an nutty Costa Rican blend on when I visited. They also seem to do a plethora of bites to eat, ranging from the health to downright indulgent. Despite the very modern exterior they have worked very well to make inside seem comfortably classic and a library feel to the place. Staff were very polite and genuine, Bristol lets itself down by only having one such coffee house, and yes this is number #1.
