Had high hopes for this place, after the two restaurants there previously were amazing! However, the atmosphere and food were both equally as bad as each other.
The wait staff didn’t smile once, didn’t ask us how our food was and didn’t ask if we wanted dessert or more drinks. We had to go up and ask for the bill as the staff do not come back to the table, and we then had to go back up for the card machine as they disappeared again.
The food looked really good and the menu looked so promising, but my husbands beef burger was really dry and my chicken burger was so bland I couldn’t finish it. The chips were overcooked & again very bland. Everything just tasted deep fried but as if it was deep fried in a cheap oil.
All food is served on paper plates and drinks are served in paper cups. Not great for the environment.
The food however, is reasonably priced, it was £10 for a burger, chips and a drink. So, if you’re not looking for amazing quality and want something cheap- this place is good for that.
Very tasteful food, with some very good seasonings. The waitresses are super nice to you and the chef as well who sometimes comes out of the kitchen to check up on you if everything is alright. Would recommend to everyone. We had a very good experience.
Me and the gf had food here unexpectedly around midday after the haystack kitchen was shut earlier than we thought, and we were both very happy we did. The food was amazing, affordable and the portion sizes were more than enough.
Between the two of us we had:
– 2 burgers (that came with fries)
– Loaded fries
– Halloumi fries
– 2 Drinks
And all that only came to £31 which we thought was more than reasonable.
The service was quick and polite and and the atmosphere was chilled if not a little quiet. I would fully recommend this place if your looking for some quality grub.
Newly opened, has great potential, but there are some very obvious teething problems.
Food was nice, however, I ordered a Mac n cheese main – I received a small side, they said it was an issue with how the till had processed it – anyway it was fine I was only charged for a side, hubby’s cheapest date on record!!
Since I didn’t quite have a full meal, we asked for the dessert menu, you could have cheesecake or cheesecake of varying flavours. So we thought we’d have cheesecake 😂.(to be fair there was lemon drizzle cake or chocolate brownie too) Anyway we didn’t have any because nobody came back to ask what we would like to order, so we just asked for the bill, which came, but nobody came back, so we then had to ask how to pay for our meals.
The staff was a bit like buses, 3 asked within five mins if our meal was okay, but then we had to get the chefs attention who then prompted the waitresses to come over.
But good luck guys I’m sure you crack it once you’ve ironed out the few problems.
Very tasty Sunday roast beef lunch , beef was served nice and pink, melt in the mouth.
Roast carrots, parsnips and potatoes all luscious, yummy gravy !
Ferrero Roche cheesecake anc ice-cream to finish a superb meal . Well done just what merthyr town needs
