Fredricks Bar & Brasserie

1. Had food here as part of our spa day and was delicious. I’m gluten free and they adapted the meals I had chosen to suit my dietary needs. Really tasty food and great service

2. A wonderful new menu with plenty of imaginative and delicious suggestions to choose from. My husband had the moules to start followed by the brisket, I had the fried halloumi followed by a fillet steak and side order of chips, all were delicious. The service was excellent. There was nothing negative to report at all, we will return again soon.

3. The food was outstanding, the service poor. I had to go twice to ask the waitresses to bring stuff. They brought the Sunday lunch with no veg. Had to go and ask.
   This is such a beautiful venue, hope the customer care improves!

4. Meal for a party of 9. Ordered in advance, had to wait around 45 to an hour minutes for the pre order. Was OK for us as we chatted. Was happy to use the birthday cake we took with us. Where very helpfull on this front. Meals where a bit pricey and a little unseasoned. Table service was good in parts.

5. We really like Machynys and its restaurant. For us it’s often the place for celebrations. On this occasion, we just went for breakfast before our son was to go back off to university.

   My wife had pancakes with honey, compote and yoghurt. There were three small pancakes but just one more would have been spot on. She really enjoyed them.

   My son and I had Machynys breakfasts. Diced avocado and tomatoes on toast, poached eggs and Glamorgan sausage. Now I have always enjoyed the food here, but today was the exception. It was not enjoyable at all. One slice of toast had two undercooked poached eggs with runny clear whites. The avocado and tomatoes were not on the toast but to the side, and they basically consisted of cherry tomatoes, chopped avocado and loads of salad cream, or something similar. It wasn’t particularly enjoyable at all, but I was so hungry I ate it. The sausage however was quite nice.

   Our first cup of coffee did come quite cold, but the second made up for it – that was hot.

   This place is lovely. Great surroundings and a nice atmosphere with very reasonable prices – and it’s not at all expensive. It’s just that today, my food was not at all good. I will return though, as I just expect this to be a blip, a bad food day.
