  1. I recently visited Gail’s Bakery in Reading and was thoroughly impressed by the experience. The ambiance of the bakery is warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a relaxed breakfast or a casual meet-up with friends.

One of the standout items on their menu is the egg soufflé. It’s absolutely fantastic – light, fluffy, and bursting with flavor. Every bite is a delight, and it’s clear that they use high-quality ingredients to achieve such a delicious result.

Another highlight for me was the pistachio financier. This delightful pastry is a must-try for anyone with a sweet tooth. It has a perfect balance of nuttiness and sweetness, with a texture that’s wonderfully moist and satisfying.

Overall, Gail’s Bakery in Reading offers a great selection of baked goods and a cozy atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. Whether you’re there for a quick coffee or a leisurely brunch, you’re sure to find something to love.

  2. I prefer this place of all for an early morning coffee and a good croissant 🥐 or one of their bun-sandwiches. It’s a very peaceful place to be for a 7am coffee-n-breakfast. Plenty of space inside to sit and enjoy, few seats available outside as well.

  3. Great find. First time. Checked it out as heard about it. Supposedly high end cafe and expensive. Don’t let rumours fool you like it did me. It’s actually an average cafe like most now (although not a greasy spoon). It’s almost like a Pret or Costa but trying to be ‘high end’.

Not as hygienic as the others because their baked goods are exposed. Anyone queueing there and looking at the food like we did breathe on it. I was very aware of that but I let it go! We had a sausage roll and a small avocado and something on brioche bun and teas. They were ok. Nothing special.

Atmosphere is ok. High ceilings and more seats around the corner.

Service was ok. Not friendly but civil. Perhaps uni students. It’s totally fine and acceptable. Don’t expect any conversation.

  4. Visited after 3-months gap. Very disappointed. Although the pastries and cakes were nice and well presented the staff were miserable and service slow. The Barista had the charisma of a corpse. The two latte’s I ordered came in cups with no handles and were quite hot to touch. The Barista banged them down on the counter with no attempt to present them nicely or place them on a tray. The cups also seemed smaller but I could be wrong. It was also quite expensive. Will not be returning.

  5. Very warm and friendly staff, and conveniently located in corner of a pedestrian only road.

Like many I received an email this morning promising a free drink when I download their new App.
I popped in to claim it even though it was not showing in the rewards, the staff was very helpful and made sure I left the cafe happy and with a free drink.

She explained that they were still having teething problems with their new App, and hopefully all will be sorted soon.
