  1. The Golden Spoon Café’s cakes are true works of art, beautifully designed to capture your attention and imagination. During my visit, I was particularly drawn to their chocolate plant pot cakes. These little creations look like real plant pots but are entirely edible! They come in various colors and fillings, adding a fun twist to traditional desserts.

  2. The cakes were inedible. They were listed at a reduced price (c£8 to c£6 each) at the end of the day, which turned out to mean not that they were trying to shift today’s fresh goods before they went off, but trying to shift yesterday’s (at least) already-off, frozen-defrosted goods. We didn’t choose them for the reduced price, but because we wanted those flavours – the reduction was coincidental. We asked politely for a refund after a spoonful of each, but were told that only a manager could authorise this, and there wasn’t one available. The cream was solidified, the mousse was chewy, and the fruit was shrivelled, but we were told that this was because they “weren’t fresh” – not what I’d expect any cafe to sell without a clear warning about quality. Not impressed at all. After ten minutes of discussion, we were finally given replacements (lower priced cakes) which did taste fairly fresh, but don’t try anything here unless you’re sure it’s been made today. Even so, not convinced they were worth the price.

Update after reply: Not a competitor, just a disappointed customer. I don’t think I should have to ask questions to be sure that food for sale is fresh and edible. I don’t say nobody should buy here, I just think you should check that the food is fresh, as stale food was on sale when I ate here.

  3. Went here for lunch and ordered the Hakka noodles, Hakka noodles were very nice, noodles were made well and the sauce ontop was pretty tasty and a good amount of veggies inside it too (there was a lot of cooked carrot, which I’m not the biggest fan of, but the sauce made me not mind them). Only complaint was the £8 price, however, it can be excused slightly as the portion is decently big, however the meal is only noodles and veggies, no meat at all

The cafe has it’s own decent sized seating area that’s separate from the big dining area that’s next to Burger King and Kim’s, which was pretty empty despite the fact that it was peak lunchtime hour. The dining area was also decently clean

The service was good, the woman that was working till was very nice, and the food was made pretty quickly (roughly 7 minutes)

  4. Avoid! I ordered the Cajun chicken wrap and a latte. There was a problem with the card machine (like other reviews) so I just paid cash. I waited 25 minutes despite only one other table waiting for food. I was tired after a flight but this was lunchtime. As I looked around even I started to wonder why it was so quiet and where my food was.
The Cajun chicken wrap was horrible. It was more veggies than chicken. The veggies were a strange mixture including carrots and tasted strongly of vinegar. It was as if they had pickled all the veggies to stop them going off. The whole wrap was smothered in a light coloured sauce. I could only eat the part of the wrap with chicken as the pickled veggies were so bad. The coffee was perfectly fine. I wish I had read other reviews before eating here. It will however be the first and last time.

  5. Cakes looked incredible – struggled with what to choose, and eventually opted for the Apple sphere cake. Unfortunately it really wasn’t to my taste – outer shell didn’t have much flavour. a tiny bit of apple inside, and otherwise filled with cream. I found it to be far too sweet and creamy – although appreciate it’s probably down to personal choice.
