Green Door Bakery

1. We came in recently to grab some cakes for breakfast as I had found the bakery online. The cakes were tasty, however allergy training is seriously needed.

   The girl who served us did not know an allergen sheet needed to be produced as I had requested one and was unsure whether the bakery had one. Another staff member helped me out and gave me the sheet so I chose an item which didn’t have any of my allergens.

   We paid and went to sit outside and my partner stopped me from taking a bite to take a picture. The staff then came running out to tell me there was soybean in the cream inside my cake, something their allergen sheet did not show.

   I was grateful that they were happy to let me swap for something safe for me to eat. This was fine until I was served, using the same tongs which were covered in cream from the cake I was just told I couldn’t eat. The server then proceeded to use the tongs to try to rub the cream off the new cake which instead, rubbed it in even more. I had to point out that I couldn’t eat it if they had just rubbed in the ingredient they had rushed out to stop me from eating 2 minutes before.

   I understand it’s difficult to eat out with multiple allergies but that’s the whole point of checking what’s in everything so the risk is mitigated. They did a great job with the food but there needs to be serious improvements to the layout of the allergen sheet as well as staff knowledge on allergen procedures.

2. Great little local cafe/ bakery in Cyncoed village. Fab selection of coffees, cold drinks as well as a nice selection of sweet and savoury baked goodies. Staff are welcoming and its dog friendly. I pop in a few times a week when out and about on dog walks, love it… keep up the good work! 🐶☕️🧁💚

4. Rhian’s setup is just perfect. The cakes are all delicious and getting the brownie selection box makes for a wonderful local gift. Always happy staff there which makes it a great place to pop in for treats or lunch.

5. Fantastic little bakery/coffee shop. Staff are super friendly and cakes are delicious. Really nice to see somewhere that make their own cakes/pastries and doesn’t just serve cake from C***co… Looking forward to going again and making it a regular stop for ☕ and 🍰. Also a brilliant place to sit out and work in the ☀️✅
