Heidi’s Brooklyn Deli

1. Update*** (Updated review at end of original review) I don’t know what has happened here, but things have really changed when it comes to service. I ordered a Hells Kitchen on marble rye…what I got was a slice of pumpernickel and a slice of who knows what. Instead of them telling me that they are out of marble rye and if I would like it to be on a different type of bread, they made that choice for me. The tomato’s are almost white in color and the onions are just a couple diced onions just sprinkled on this sad excuse for what Heidi’s sandwiches used to be. I eat at home now because every time I want to sit and dine in…I have to clean the crumbs and whatever else is living on the tables and seats before I can sit down. Really disappointed with how this establishment is going the opposite direction.

   **UPDATE**
   I was contacted about my experience and was asked to try this establishment once more with proper changes that have been put in place. Upon arrival, Raul greeted me right away and was kind and patient. I ordered the Hells Kitchen and it was made to perfection! This is how Heidi’s used to make their sandwiches! This is the Heidi’s I have grown to love over the last 20 years. Thanks so much to the team at the Brighton location, Raul, Estrella, and Angel, for making my dining experience wonderful! I will be returning if this is the new norm!

2. Based off of the other negative reviews it seems our experience was on par for this location. Not sure if there’s a manager for this store looking out for quality/ consistency but it doesn’t seem like it since the issues appear to be the same across the board. Paid $40 for two sandwiches one that was missing half of the add ons, and the other that literally has “avocado” in the title only to find half of a half of a piece of avocado on it. Also the bread was wrong and no one said anything about switching them out which seems to happen every time we come here. If you’re going to charge $16-$17 for a sandwich there’s no reason they shouldn’t be perfect every time or at least bare minimum inclusive of all the ingredients ordered and paid for.

3. Last week (June) my husband and I came in for lunch. Everyone was pleasant, the location was clean but the amount of tuna put on the sandwich looked to be maybe 1 oz or less – in other words, the sandwich was mainly bread and veges. We were both incredibly disappointed. I took a picture and can send you it to support my statement above. I ended up giving my husband half of my turkey sandwich after he ate the tuna sandwich so he wouldn’t be hungry. I suggest you re-evaluate your ‘tuna on marble rye’ offering.

4. I was pleasantly surprised as previous experiences here haven’t been the best but this last time I went for a breakfast sandwich we were taken care of by Amelia and she is by far the friendliest staff member. She was very nice, made our food quickly and kept us in casual conversation so it don’t feel like we waited long at all. I wish all staff were like her as they don’t always seem happy to be there.

5. I just don’t understand why they would serve such bad food.

   I dropped in today happy to try a new restaurant on vacation only to be welcomed by some stale broken and smelly Mac n cheese and a sandwich so sloppy with mayo and mustard that it ripped through the wrap before I got it back (5 mins away).

   $27 for a sandwich and Mac n cheese and I got to throw it all in the trash.
