Tried here for the first time after looking for a vegan place in York, and it was really good! I had the BBQ ribs on mac n cheese, and salt & pepper chips. Well my favourite was the ribs and mac n cheese! Soooo good, lots of flavour and very filling. I find vegan mac n cheese has been bland everywhere I have tried it, this has been the best so far.
Came for a second visit due to my dad being in York hospital, and being at work all day prior to visiting, we were both starving so I booked some parking nearby and thought this would be a good option. The machine was down so we had to order through the website, a bit annoying but things happen. Ordered over £50 worth of food and waited. Over 40 minutes passed, we hadn’t been given our drinks either. My partner went to check what was happening and was told that after they had done the current takeaway order, they were going to make a start on ours. So after 40 mins, they hadn’t even started ours. This was a Wednesday evening. I asked for a refund and we left and got a takeaway delivered for the time we got home. I always want to support vegan businesses but sadly this was a let down on this occasion, I didn’t even feel like there was an attempt to apologise or compensate for the wait.
Ordered loaded Mac and cheese as really excited about the ribs only to be told they had sold out so order was refunded. Ordered the plain Mac and cheese. Once you have ate all the garlic bread crispy bits the Mac and cheese is bland and tastes like porridge. It had no resemblance to cheese at all and sauce had the consistency of water. Mac and cheese needs more cheese flavour and thickening up.
THE best plant based burger I have ever had and that’s saying something! Decadent batter and delicious coleslaw. Very expensive in my opinion and it’s one of those annoying deals where what you’re ordering is just the burger or fries individually. The burger was so massive on reflection I needn’t have ordered fries at all. But honestly that burger was perfect.
I’m not a vegan myself but do enjoy trying different foods so this place really appealed to me. Everything I had was delicious (‘chicken’ burger, ‘cheese’ fries and corn on the cob), it was really well cooked and the corn on the cob was delicious. I’m more than happy to recommend it.
Food was hit and miss. Ribs were done amazing and the texture was great. The burger on the other hand was salty and just generally plain. Sadly service was a miss also as felt like we were inconveniencing the staff when we asked for a burger to be redone cause firstly it came out completely wrong. Wouldn’t go back on this basis
