Loved this restaurant in Manchester city centre. Creative ever changing menu with an emphasis on sharing. The atmosphere was laid back, the staff were all really friendly and helpful with recommendations and there was also an excellent wine list. The food was fantastic, there’s some talented people working in that kitchen
Higher Ground in Manchester is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a stylish yet cozy ambiance. The staff were incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and made sure every detail of our dining experience was perfect. The food was outstanding—each dish bursting with flavor, beautifully presented, and crafted from fresh, local ingredients. The menu offers a creative twist on modern British cuisine, and every bite was a delight. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just enjoying a night out, Higher Ground is a must-visit. Highly recommend!
Fantastic restaurant showcasing fresh seasonal ingredients. They serve a selection of small plates and some larger ones with a regularly rotating menu. The staff were lovely and very helpful and everything I had was super delicious. I particularly enjoyed the tomato dishes and the beef tartare. I managed to snag a seat at the counter too so could watch the chefs prepare everything in their open kitchen.
Can’t recommend this place highly enough.
We were looking for a lighter lunch with more small plates, which was perfect here! Sat at the bar top to see the chefs in action. Great execution and flavour from all the dishes, it was great to see the provenance of food being championed. Great wine list by the glass and bottle. Would definitely be back and spread the word!
During my solo business trip to Manchester, I sought a relaxed atmosphere, positive vibes, and, of course, delectable cuisine. The Michelin guide recommended that I could find all of this at the British bistro bar, Higher Ground, located in the city centre. And they were absolutely correct. Higher Ground truly lived up to its name, standing on a higher ground in terms of quality.
Their seasonal sharing menu offered a delightful blend of simplicity and unforgettable flavors. The dishes were straightforward, devoid of confusing Italian, French, or Japanese terminology often used in describing food. The meal was surprisingly invigorating, a quality I wouldn’t typically associate with dinner. Every ingredient in each dish was distinct in flavor, creating a harmonious combination.
What’s more, this delightful experience came at a very reasonable price of £66 for a tasting menu paired with a non-alcoholic beverage.
Higher Ground is certainly a place worth remembering and revisiting in the future..
