Food: love the tapas concept here, where nothing is ordered and the waiters come around with a huge platter of multiple dishes to choose from. The patatas bravas, pork loin, creamed potato with fish and many others were so good and unique!
Atmosphere: atmosphere here is amazing, as food is brought to all the tables it’s very engaging with the waiters and if you want to try something that isn’t there you can make an ad hoc request
Price: £3 for any single tapas. Totally worth but the plates will pile up quicker than you think!
Service: service was great, the waiters are very kind and friendly.
Probably my favourite tapas restaurant in Manchester, much better than the known ones here with a very authentic experience
1000000% recommend!
went with my partner and in laws, and everyone at the table loved their food – everything came out fast, well cooked and delicious (they actually missed 2 of our dishes, but thank god for that because we were all so full).
service was impeccable – i honestly wish that I had asked the host his name, because he was lovely!!!
absolutely will go back, and will recommend to everyone I know!
I love their £3 concept idea, you get people coming around with a variety of tapas that you can choose from.
My favourite was the potato’s bravas, the egg and truffle chips, the octopus and the fish croquette. They also serve different tapas during the evening.
Friendly atmosphere and service. I would definitely come again to try the other tapas dishes.
I’m absolutely disgusted by the waste management practices at Maricarmen. On multiple occasions, I have witnessed a staff member pouring liquids, including what looked like food waste, down street drains—once on Jersey Street and more recently on Gun Street. The first time, I confronted the employee and explained that this is entirely unacceptable and against waste disposal regulations. He said he was unaware of proper procedures and promised to speak with his manager. Despite this, I’ve continued to see evidence of liquid waste spills near their entrance, and the drain close to the restaurant is now visibly blocked.
This behavior violates UK regulations regarding liquid waste management, especially for fats, oils, and grease (FOG), which can lead to serious drain blockages and environmental harm if not disposed of correctly. In the UK, the law requires all businesses to use appropriate waste collection services for their FOG waste, and it is illegal to dispose of these materials down public drains. Restaurants must separate and dispose of FOG waste in line with environmental guidelines, and failing to do so can result in fines and further enforcement action.
As for the food, I have dined at Maricarmen before, and the experience was far from memorable. The food was at best average, with portion sizes that felt overpriced. Now, knowing how they manage their waste, I will absolutely not be supporting this restaurant in the future.
Great place for authentic tapas. We went for the £3 a board deal on Saturday afternoon. Table wasnt ready and we waited 11 minutes until someone came to take our drinks order. Food was coming past us but not offered untill drinks were ordered…. Then the food flowed like water. On this deal, the wait staff come round with different offerings on boards and you just say yes or no. At the end of the meal, they count the boards and charge accordingly. We had 25 between 3 of us, the quality of the food and service, made up for the wait. If you like tapas you will love Maricamen. Highly recommend. They lost a star only because of the wait.
