I entered the restaurant, full of hope to start my journey with a nice breakfast from this place. Unfortunately, it was the worst service I’ve received in years… extremely poor treatment and an experience I hope neither I nor my followers have to go through again. Despite the availability of tables in the restaurant, the waitress insisted that we sit next to the restroom. When we requested to change the location, she replied, “This is what’s available.” We sat down, and within three minutes, two people arrived and the same waitress immediately changed their place when they requested.
It took 35 minutes just to bring us tea and coffee, when we asked they said they forgot to place the order. when it came were rudely placed on the table, causing some coffee to spill, as shown in the picture. of course she did not even feel to apologize. Just walked away.
As for breakfast, it wasn’t served as we requested. My wife had asked for the cream and sugar to be on the side, yet it wasn’t done, and we left before she could finish her meal.
The situation only improved when the waitress named (Arien) was replaced by another, who treated us better and, acknowledging the mistake, removed the cost of the tea and coffee from the bill. A very disappointing experience, and I regret giving this restaurant the attention of having my first breakfast there.
First thing you notice when you go in is just how lively the people and staff are. Comfortable interiors with homey decorations. The staff were incredibly friendly and weren’t overbearing in any way. The scones were dreamy. 100% will visit when I come back to Edinburgh.
We had a great time at Mimi’s, the food was of excellent quality with good portion sizes and the cakes were delicious, highly recommend the jammy slice.
Staff were friendly and welcoming.
Much easier to visit from Edinburgh City centre just a short walk from the tram so highly recommend visiting, book a table in advance.
Had a great time here for afternoon tea! Although I don’t think i’m much of a tea person so I didn’t love the tea itself, the experience was great for the price and it came with a heaping amount of food! The waitresses are all so friendly and accommodating of any dietary restrictions, and made the experience that much better. Would definitely give it a try for a nice afternoon brunch.
As perfect as all the other Mimi’s Bakehouses’ are!
Friendly service, absolutely delicious food. I am Biscoff obsessed and their Banana Biscoff French Toast is a Biscoff lovers dream! Stuffed with gooey melted biscoff, and the French toast itself is as light as a feather.
Got a (rather large, which I’m happy about) slice of rainbow birthday cake to take away. All their cakes are seriously yummy – light and full of flavours.
Can’t wait to come back to this store for the French toast again!
