Fabulous hotel and restaurant, an absolute hidden gem. I will definitely come back to stay again with my family. The service was fantastic, thoroughly professional and friendly. I really enjoyed my stay
Very rare to have a pub lunch better than I could make at home but this was exceptional.
Makrel starter and roast beef were fantastic. Live music was great too. Lemon meringue pie was not great but everything else was.
Kids food was also good.
Staff very friendly and professional. Food a little slow (especially the desert) but I am nit picking now.
Stay was nice enough.. the room itself was comfortable. Booked a balcony room, but the balcony itself was pretty cobwebby and only had one chair, so we couldn’t sit outside together and enjoy the morning sunshine. Bathroom was quite dusty around the edges which I was quite surprised by! If you’ve stayed at the resort, be aware that the breakfast is only continental, no cooked elements at all which I think is a bit of shame.
We booked a room here based on the website description. What the website doesn’t make clear is that there are no bedrooms in the hotel building itself. Instead the rooms are in a bedroom block in the hotel car park. We had booked the room with a balcony, expecting, perhaps naively, that we would have a lovely view, as the location of the hotel is on the beautiful river Usk. We did have a view of – you guessed it – the car park! The website really should make clear that the rooms are not on site. Dinner was also a bit disappointing. It was a Sunday evening, so there was only the Sunday roast menu available. I ordered the beef which was very over-done and came with the driest Yorkshire pudding ever. Vegetables were very good though, and my husband’s starter of Caesar salad was excellent. Service was OK but felt a bit scripted. I think the management of this place needs to decide whether it’s a pub – in which case, let people get their drinks from the bar rather than waiting an age to be served at a table, or a restaurant with rooms, in which case it really needs to up its game. Breakfast is continental only and the selection is quite thin, for example there is only one sort of bread (brown) and one sort of not very nice cheese, along with ham, salami and smoked salmon. Veggies are not very well catered for. Not great value for the price of the rooms.
Nice place for lunch . Options for set price for 2 or 3 course meals. Good customer care. Great Fish and Chips!
