Quantum Coffee Roasters

1. We went in for coffee with a group of friends. Since we were crowded, we pushed 3-4 tables together. No one warned us when we were ordering. Just as everyone had ordered and sat at the table, one of the employees came and said that we had to separate the tables. One of us said that when we finished our coffees, we would straighten the tables before leaving the cafe. When the employee insisted that we separate them immediately, I said that her behavior was rude and that we were chatting with our friends. In the meantime, a friend separated one of the tables. Another friend asked why we had spent 50-60 pounds and why she told us this after we ordered and not from the beginning. The girl called someone. We went out without waiting for the result.
   We had been here before and pushed the tables together again, no one said anything.
   I don’t think we will go to this cafe again.

2. Lovely little new Coffee shop just outside of Cardiff Castle. Awesome seating and very friendly staff! It was £3.20 for a Cappuccino which was really good. The shop was very clean and the atmosphere was very well done! Perfect place to get some work done or just enjoy a Coffee with friends! A rare 5 stars from me!

   Appalling attitude from one of the staff members ( blonde girl ) who rudely told a large group of paying customers AFTER WE HAD MOVED THE TABLES AND SAT DOWN FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES that she was not happy with us moving the tables and asked us to put them back calling us rude for moving them ( to create a bigger table) in the first place ! We were shocked and perplexed as like I said we had sat down for a while before she said anything and instead of asking us to put them back at th3 end of our stay ( which we would anyway ) she told us to put them back while we were eating and drinking.

   Whenever I’ve visited a cafe in a large group we have always moved tables/added chairs so our group can be accommodated. Never had this issue before.
   One if our group members challenged her and asked her what the rules were and if there were any cab we see them. They also asked her for the name of the owner which she refused to give initially but eventually she gave the name and contact details as we left ( we could see she phoned the owner to complain about us ).

   We also think that our kuffiyehs we were wearing may have had something to do with it ( so much for being an ethical brand).

   Never ever have we experienced anything like this before and we will not be going back! If i could give zero stars i would.

   Dear Katia, as you weren’t there I can assure you none of our group were rude to her at all. She called you because we challenged her as to why we were being told to put the tables back after a good TEM MINUTES of sitting, chatting and eating – basically minding our own business. YOUR staff member was in fact rude to us – telling us to move the tables in the middle of us having SPENT MONEY SUPPORTING YOUR BUSINESS and sitting down, she even said that we wouldn’t move the furniture around in someone’s house to which we responded this isn’t someone’s house….we were all taken aback by her lack of tact and her clear annoyance of us being there.

   As for our other group member, she did not go behind the bar, she wnrt up to talk to your staff member privately and politely in a non threatening manner, your staff member shooed her away rudely when she just wanted to understand why wer were being treated the way we were.
   Lastly, our first visit was a smaller group of ladies who while we were sat down were being stared at and given dirty looks by four older customers on the table just opposite. We all noticed this – they spoke to one of our members of our group in a derogratory manner and accused us of ‘wanting to raise money ‘or something bizarre. Each other were staring and looking us up and down. We told them we can see them staring and they denied it and began arguing with us.
   At the end of yhe day you clearly don’t know how to respect your paying customers who did nothing but sit in peace minding our own business. Your staff member was rude and agressive and made us feel unwelcome she clearly did not want us there. We did nothing to make your staff feel unsafe at all – we were thr ones made to feel unwelcome we were calm While she was clearly annoyed.

   I hope you learn from this as you should know social media is a powerful tool and we will be warning our friends and family of our treatment that was for some of us our first and last time in Quantum.

4. Best selection of hot chocolates I’ve seen in any coffee shop, including a variety of strengths/sources as well as specific flavours. I especially recommend the orange one. Hot chocolates often feel like an afterthought but that wasn’t the case here.

5. Continuing the great coffee and atmosphere established for several years at the Quantum in Cardiff Bay, there is now a Quantum in the city centre.

   Whether you’re a tourist visiting Cardiff Castle just across the road or a regular to the city centre – support good food and drink from local businesses. We will be whenever we’re in town 👍
