  1. We decided to check out this new restaurant, given the recent buzz and appealing menu. From the pictures and reviews, it seemed promising.

However, I left feeling a bit underwhelmed. Booking the table was challenging; it took six attempts to get through and secure a spot for our large group.

We visited for Sunday dinner, and the menu offered good variety at fair prices. While some parts of the meal were excellent, others fell short. For instance, the gravy and mash were great, but the Yorkshire puddings were disappointingly flat, and the pork’s “crackling” was chewy fat than crispy crackling.

I’m putting it down to early teething issues, and I hope the chef will refine things over time.

Still, I did enjoy the evening in a beautiful setting, with a lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. I do recommend giving this place a go but perhaps avoid during the busiest of times.

  2. Called in the afternoon with friends, first visit as the sand and rabbit… Great menu, lots to choose from including a whole chicken cooked on a, tin! Lovely salads, burgers & sandwiches, will definitely be calling again.

  3. The restaurant space is classy and the staff are welcoming and helpful, both front of house and wait staff. There were a few things that I think this new restaurant could capitalise on: add olives, side/green salads (to go with the steaks), at least one chicken dish, and decaff coffee to the menu. But I was delighted with the quality of my fillet steak – beautifully seared and cooked to a perfect medium-rare. The little baked onion cake that came with it was a tasty addition too. My friend had the Mushroom Risotto (as there wasn’t a chicken option) and it was on the small side for a main dish, but delicious.

My only other niggle would be the toilets that are shared with the bar. Wobbly seats, missing handles on the doors for handbags, and not that clean. I think a classy restaurant should have classier toilets.

But I wish the owners well with this new venue. A great start.
