Everything you’d ever want in your local cafe! I first came to Stir in mid-August of this year when I moved into the neighborhood and it has quickly become my favorite thing about living in Histon. I come here at least once a week, not only to supply my stash of sourdough but because each time I walk into this cafe I am welcomed in like an old friend. As a veteran of the service industry, I can say that the staff here is extremely attentive, efficient, kind, and polite (shout-out to Nico who always helps me with large orders for my office). They know regulars by names and faces and take time to chat with everyone who walks through the door. They clearly care about customer satisfaction and take pride in their food and space, ensuring the utmost quality. And as for the food, their pastries are delectable—my coworkers scarf them down in minutes whenever I bring some into the office—and their breakfast and lunch offerings include menu items for any palette to enjoy. If you get the chance to stop in, I recommend the lemon loaf, any variation of sourdough toast they have available, and their cappuccino. However, you cannot go wrong with anything they have to offer as all items are delicious and inspired! Do not skip out on this wonderful establishment!
So glad my friend introduced me to Stir as I am now obsessed! Have been many times and each time I forget how incredible the food is. The first time I went I couldn’t get over how each bite was so full of flavour. Their sourdough is amazing, and honestly I could happily eat their sourdough with just butter. Their coffee is delicious too, along with the freshly pressed juices. They also have freshly baked goods but I’ve always been too stuffed to try after. Writing this review and getting hungry so can’t wait to return!
Small, but lovely cafe with great choice of always freshly made breakfast, fine cofe
Had a light lunch here. My wife had the soup of the day (roasted tomato), I had the carbonara and poached egg. Both were served with a generous toasted slice of the home made sourdough bread. (The loaves they had on sale looked amazing). My latte was deliciously smooth. Service was friendly and efficient and there was a really nice buzz to the atmosphere. Would happily go back the next time I am in Histon. In terms of price, our food and two drinks came to £22.
Normally stir is really nice and friendly. But rude female server in grey top today.
I got up to pay, heading through a maze of chairs to the till when accosted and accused of trying to leave without paying. I paid as planned and mentioned to the server that we were coming back to table leaving the last bits of our my cappuccino and friends hot chocolate to have when returned. Server said this was fine.
We then niped out to check the bus times of the stop beside the cafe. When returned less than 1 minute later to find my coffee which I had been saving last bits of was gone and the hot chocolate. The server who I had previously been talking to, told me we could not have the table back, though no one was sitting there. Server really rude when I queried that they had said it was fine for us to nip out to bus stop beside cafe.
We then sat on the window chairs having a glass of water before my friends bus arrived.
Puts me off coming back even though normally my local favourite for coffee with friends.
