  1. Everything was just perfect about that restaurant… food, ambiance and quality. I particularly recommend the Loch Melfort sea trout and if you want to try haggis you can take it in a small portion. You can share it as we did. Even if we were full we got the desserts absolutely delicious. Look for the one with strawberries from Fife and also the chocolate cake! I’m not fan of dogs in restaurants but it look like a thing around here. If I was still in town tomorrow, I would go back for another discovery on the menu!

  2. At the weekend we had the Sunday Roast .

The decor of the place is lovely, with old Singer sewing machine tables. So that is a nice ‘local’ touch.

I had the duck liver pater and black cherry ketchup to start with, which was nice. Although I wasn’t 100% convinced on the brioche toast.

For our main course all three of us went for the roast beef. Which came with roasties, carrot, cauliflower & broccoli cheese, a separate pot of gravy and a Yorkshire pudding that had some slow cook meat inside.

We were all a little disappointed with the roast beef, all three plates of meat were chewy. And unfortunately we did end up leaving some and not managing to eat it all. The roast potatoes were excellent though, the best we’ve had in a while.

The meat inside the Yorkshire pudding was amazing, but it was a bit confusing having it encased in the Yorkshire.

We really enjoyed the Salted Caramel pudding and the Mango Sorbet.

Overall we’d give the Sunday Roast a 7 out of 10. Everything but the meat was amazing.

  3. Found online reviews and booked Stravaigin for our first meal in Scotland. Experienced haggis for the first time and it was delicious! I also had the sea trout with spanakopita which was wonderful; fish was moist and flavorful. My husband had the mussels and burger- said they were the best mussels he ever ate and the burger (beef) was superb! The dark chocolate cake with the malted vanilla ice cream excellent as well. We enjoy finding great meals and we have put this within our top ten ever. The decor and ambience was intimate and creative.
The best part of our experience was our server, Morven. She was friendly and fun, and very knowledgeable of the menu. She even offered suggestions of local pubs and attractions when we asked. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and highly recommend!

  4. Haggis is just out of this world tasty.
Very-very good, buy the large portion, don’t rob yourself of such a feast with a smaller version. Again, can’t say enough good things about the haggis.
The staff is super pleasant, the vibes great, the steak is nice too, but just you go and order that haggis and thank me later
