Texas Joe’s Slow Smoked Meats

1. I am a bit on the fence with this venue. Firstly, I found the staff to be wonderful. From front desk to clear up, everyone is friendly and hard working. However, I found it quite loud, so could not hear my waitress (my friends had to repeat what she was saying). A lot of tables are packed quite close together. The food came at a good rate and they did not skimp on the fries. I had beef brisket and found it to be a bit dry. There is no plain mayonnaise, only the peri mayo that comes with the fries. My friend enjoyed her pork shoulder. We did not feel rushed. We split the bill 4 ways, so paid around £27 each (including service charge). 3 soft drinks were ordered, 1 special sides, 4 fries, 2 beef briskets, 1 pork shoulder and 1 chicken thighs. I wouldn’t avoid going back, but I’m not in a rush to return.

2. This hidden gem is a must try. Ordered lot of dishes and all of them tasted amazing! Had a good bark, seasoning on point and packed with flavour, high quality ingredients, super tender. We didn’t have reservation but they sorted a table very quickly, really friendly staff. I would love to see them come to Dubai.

3. The brisket was dry which is a big letdown in bbq joint. The ribs were good, but we ordered the pork ones and got the beef ones. Potato salad was very average, Mac and cheese was nice. The table was slanted and we were asked to vacate the table the moment we paid and move to the bar, even though we were there only for one hour and still had drinks. Not cheap at all, 3 stars is generous of me!

4. Each member of staff was so friendly and welcoming! The greeter, waitress and another waiter who was passing by the table. The waitress told us all about the specials (which I hadn’t noticed because I was too busy catching up with my auntie), gave us plenty of time to decide, explained all the options to my auntie and gave us all plenty of time to ponder the options. The food was superb and served so quickly. The vibes were immaculate, I’ve been to St Louis (the barbecue state) and the look and feel is exactly the same as the smokehouses there.

5. This place has been on my list for a few years and I am glad I finally managed to come!
   I did have a bit of high expectations possibly however the sake of honesty I can’t give 5 stars.
   Place is lovely and texas themed.. it really feels like crossing the world!
   Food was really good quality I have to say for the most.. however the tip-tip steak was almost cold and definitely not tender as I was expecting.
   Short rib was really good and the sides were perfect!
   But was let down by the steak and I had to point it out.
   Service was great.. the blonde waitress checked on us a couple of times and brought fresh tap water without us even asking.
   Place gets loud indoors due to the small room.
   I want to go back and give it another go.. maybe it was just an odd case, I really want to give the 5 stars here.
   Seats outside and also a cool bar!
   35-40£ per person on average.
