The Butchershop

1. Decided to stop by for the Set Lunch while we waited for our hotel room to be ready. Impeccable service with attention to detail. Great food, perfectly prepared, and if it wasn’t for only being in town for a short period, would have gone back again.

2. Excellent experience.
   We decided to try their Tuesday Burger car Steak order and what a treat it was.

   Warm welcoming atmosphere with evidently experienced and accommodating staff (easily worth the 12.5% service charge). The restaurant was full but didn’t feel crowded due to the proper spacing probably.

   Tasty mac and cheese and garlic mushroom sides to start with.
   Juicy perfectly cooked rump steaks for both of us, paired with a nice bottle of wine.

   Will definitely visit again to try their other cuts.

3. The food is just alright with this price level. Service is okay but there was a near miss on a dropping knife on my leg when the staff was collecting the dirty plates. He just joked around without saying sorry. And the plates were literally 10 cm away from my face while he was collecting some more plates.

4. Food was good but the service wasn’t great. We waited a very long time to get our food, nobody said anything to us about this. This was for a birthday treat & I did leave a request that we could have something done to the dessert which was forgotten about but wasn’t really a problem as I assumed it wasn’t something that was available. Whilst we were waiting on our bill (for a long time), a table next to us got a birthday candle in their dessert and I think our server had realised that they had forgotten. They then brought over a scoop of ice cream with a candle in it because of this which felt like an afterthought and was slightly uncomfortable as it was so obvious and at that point we just wanted our bill😅 I did mention this at the end but don’t think anyone was interested in my feedback which was disappointing as there was an opportunity to talk about it. Probably won’t be back but I do recommend the bearnaise sauce (best I’ve had, I didn’t even order it) and their homemade sticky toffee pudding! Was one of the best sticky toffee puddings I’ve ever tasted. Shame the service was so poor or it would have been a great review.

5. Four of us booked for a Saturday evening and were seated right away, in a really cosy section of the restaurant. It’s got a ‘warm welcome’ feel to the place; a great mix of modern and traditional, and dark without being oppressive. Despite the other tables surrounding you, you never feel crammed in or drowned out by other groups sitting near you.

   We ordered starters and main courses, and despite how tasty it was, I struggled towards the end of the main, which is more than likely because we ordered far too many sides (they were all amazing though so it couldn’t be helped). Fries, garlic mushrooms, mac & cheese, bone marrow… all simple but perfect.

   We all had steaks, 2 fillet, and a shared Chateaubriand, and all were cooked to absolute perfection. Buttery, smooth, and full of flavour. Top job.

   Our server was quick, friendly, attentive, and looked after us well from start to finish. Absolutely no complaints whatsoever.

   It’s fairly expensive but definitely value for money considering the quality of the food. A great meal in great surroundings that we’ve been to before, and will definitely be visiting again.
