Fantastic roast in a really nice pub!
The pub is nice – has a really nice traditional feeling whilst still feeling vibrant. Service is friendly and efficient.
The food was amazing. Roast was done very very well. Everything was delicious (suede mash was out of this world).
Live music played on Sunday night between 5-7pm was beautiful. Not too loud to be overpowering (could still hear conversations easily) but it just added to the already wonderful atmosphere of the pub.
Highly recommend
Charming pub! But the waiter forgot one of the meals. Food was delicious! The waiter asked about allergies or food preferences 😊
Came here for a Sunday lunch with family arriving at 14:30.
Overall it’s a nice enough place, a little rough around the edges but clean and the staff are friendly and helpful.
The food overall was really good. The blue cheese croquettes were delicious as was the sausage roll and olives.
The Sunday roast was very mixed. My Dad had the beef which was tough and chewy, when he fed back they just gave him a sharper knife lol.
I had the pork which was well cooked and tasty. The veg was delicious but the roast potatoes really let it down. They were dry as a desert. Not enjoyable. Granted this was at 3pm but still, they should be good all through service.
Personally, based on this experience I wouldn’t rush back but it was far from a terrible experience. Give it a go and see what you think.
Beautiful food, both in presentation and in taste. Just the right amount for a roast and everything on the plate was delicious and hot, nothing overcooked – really well put together roast. We had a chicken and a beef; other options available and also options for dietary requirements. Service was great to start but dropped off after we were served the roasts, so we ended up back at the bar to request bill. No biggy. It’s a beautiful pub, warm and comfortable – very big family vibes on this Sunday we went, so if you’re solo, or like us child free, bear that in mind; I rated 3/5 for atmosphere and that’s entirely about personal preference not that the pub got anything wrong.
Our group included 2 who had lived in Trinidad for several.tears and so had personal experience of many of the menu choices. I, on the other hand, was venturing into Caribbean cuisine for the first time.
I started with pig cheek tacos – something I will definitely explore in my own kitchen.
For my main course – a mutton curry with several dishes that complemented it perfectly. Again, I’ll be sure to reproduce these as well. My creme rule dessert was the perfect dish ( and size of helping) to finish with.
We all Harvey’s best Suffolk ale which was a great choice.
Verdict from those who had lived in Trinidad – “Perfection!”
The young staff created a welcoming and lively atmosphere. Full marks
