I recently dined at this Sri Lankan restaurant in the heart of Bournemouth, where the vibrant flavours of Sri Lanka’s street food were elevated and presented with a refined, modern touch. The menu is designed for sharing, with smaller portions that encourage sampling a variety of dishes—perfect for two people to enjoy four to five plates for a complete experience.
Of the dishes I tried, the Hot Battered Calamari stood out as the highlight. The calamari was tender and encased in a crisp batter, while the caramelised onions added a subtle sweetness that paired beautifully with the seafood’s savoury notes. It was a combination I hadn’t quite encountered before, and the balance of flavours was truly impressive, showing that the restaurant not only respects traditional Sri Lankan cuisine but also adds a creative twist.
The pricing was reasonable, especially considering the quality of ingredients and the stylish presentation. The dishes were crafted with care and plated in a way that brought a touch of elegance to the dining experience. Additionally, the service was both swift and warm, with the staff contributing to the pleasant atmosphere with their genuine hospitality.
For anyone in Bournemouth looking to explore Sri Lankan cuisine with a contemporary flair, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit. It offers a taste of authentic street food culture while inviting diners to share and discover new flavours together.
The inside is really atmospheric, great lighting and also very open plan, so it feels like a big lively restaurant.
When we walked in we were greeted by a really friendly positive barman.
Once we sat down and gave our orders the waiter was also incredibly friendly, really helpful and positive.
The food is magnificent! Full of so many different perfectly blended flavours and spices.
Each dish had a fantastic unique fresh taste.
We cleaned every plate and will absolutely be coming back to try the other dishes.
The whole evening was a joy, especially with such friendly helpful staff.
VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Went there for dinner and absolutely loved the food. I’m Indian and I can testify that their food is actually an explosion of flavours in the mouth. Highly recommend the Goat curry and the Egg Hopper!!! Do not miss the hopper.
First time trying Sri Lankan (inspired) food and I would highly recommend! Great atmosphere, excellent service, (by Ewelina), and amazing food and cocktail! Awesome range of Vegan food, which I usually don’t get much of, unless being in fully Vegan restaurants! I had a Beach Boy Cocktail, Fat Sister, Sri-tato and vegan fried rice! Thank you to Ewelina and the rest of the staff for such a wonderful experience and providing such lovely food and drinks! Only downside to my visit was they were all out of the Hot Battered Mushrooms, which I was really looking forward to having! But that just means I have the perfect excuse to go back (not that I need one)! 😋
First time when we visited more than a year ago food was super delicious. Second time, freezing cold inside and the waitress said only one heater is working?!? Why? During winter? 🙁 Cocktails had a nice presentation but didn’t tasted as good and ordered food which was all very spicy and we struggled to eat. Lovely atmosphere and interior but food and drinks a bit of a let down and I am really sorry to say.
