  1. One of the prettiest cafés I’ve ever been to, with a moody and romantic vibe—even at 8am. The atmosphere alone is worth the visit. The coffee was decent, but I was disappointed with my chocolate croissant loaf—it lacked the flakiness I was hoping for. Despite that, the service was great, which made the experience enjoyable overall.

  2. This is such a beautiful cafe. The buns were soft and delicious, the coffee was great.
I’m so sad this place isn’t open on the weekends because I would be popping by constantly!
They also have a small selection of sandwiches for anyone looking for something more savoury.

  3. I have been to The Devil’s Roast few times now since they’ve opened.
My visits had always been a great delight. Staff are so friendly and welcoming.

Enjoying a treat while being surrounded by all the beauty creates a great atmosphere. The interior is a masterpiece and there is endless architectural details to admire.

With regard to coffee, If compared to other places in the area, it needs some work. It could have a great potential as it has nice tasting notes. If only more attention is given to the how of it. For instance, the frothing and texturing of milk, if improved would make a noticeable difference.

There is a variety of baked goods, they also offer sandwiches and soup starting 10am if I am not mistaken.

  4. Just been for lunch. A really beautiful space, nicely lit and with gorgeous original features, including stunning marble and tiles. I had their goats cheese and beetroot piccalilli sandwich (£6.75) which was delicious. Loads of goats cheese and the piccalilli was tart and crunchy. The beetroot seemed to be a golden beetroot instead of the expected pink. I took the option of adding on a bowl of soup for only £2. I expected a small bowl but it was a decent size and came with bread. I thought it was an outrageously good value for money lunch at just £8.75 and I’ll definitely return.
I was mainly served by Hannah and she was friendly and chatty and nothing seemed too much trouble. Can’t wait to return at a weekend to sample Devil of Brooklyn.

  5. Found this newly opened cafe on Instagram & it looked exactly like it did in the videos. We went for lunch the food was lovely & generous portions .. didn’t have room to eat any of the delicious looking cakes, so I will have to go back. Really clean toilets but being an old building down a steep flight of stairs. Looking forward to our next visit.
