  1. I have been to the metropolitan 3 times now and every time I have had a pleasant experience in the evening. Highlights this time round were the scallops and confit potatoes. I even decided to have scallops for dessert too they were that good. We all had confit duck as a main. We liked it but we didn’t love it. It was a very hearty meal! To compliment the duck I personally would have enjoyed more variety than just lentils, or lentils with more flavour. All in all an absolutely lovely place and I will come back for a 4th time.

  2. When I first visited summer 2023, they had an amazing brunch, really delicious food that left a lasting impression. Unfortunately, we visited recently and it’s not the same. We decided to go later in the day as I wanted to try the confit potato, only thing that was tasty. Everything else fell below standards unfortunately. We ordered the duck which was on a bed of lentils and had a bit of boiled kale. The duck was nicely cooked but very plain, the lentils had flavour but that’s it. The poussin was more disappointing as it just felt like plain chicken with plain cold slaw on the side. Not even joking: That’s all it had on the plate. On the other hand, the breadcrumb on the oysters was so salty my partner didn’t eat the rest of his. For what we paid, we felt even worse… Truly a shame as it had so much potential to be one of Bristols best.

  3. We enjoyed a fantastic brunch here last Sunday and were impressed by the delicious dishes! We ordered the Ox Cheek Hash and Chili Crab brioche, both of which were incredibly tasty. The only downside was the service. While we understand they were busy, we had to ask multiple times to get our drinks. However, this won’t deter us from returning as we definitely will! Just a few minor things they could improve upon. Keep up the good work!

  4. Fairly quiet for a Tuesday night, but I’m not sure why as the food is to die for.
The only downside is the guy mansplaining consultancy to his table of women that he won’t let get a word in.
    Great fried chicken, outstanding pickles.
It’s clear this chef loves cooking just as much as the guy at the table next to me loves the sound of his own voice.
Also the Bees Knees house wine is a great choice, cos I’m buzzing.

  5. Randomly pick this restaurant near the BnB I stay. Surprisingly high quality of foods. The portion is just right. Modern and we’ll decor environment. Service is excellent and the staff are very helpful. Strongly recommend.
