  1. A nice restaurant next to the Reading Museum.
The Pantry is a restaurant adjacent to the Reading, UK museum. It is a very nice place to grab a bite to eat during your visit to the Museum or the area. It is in the same building just on the south side and has its own entrance. It’s located a little below ground but has windows at street level that provide a light and airy look. It’s like a cozy treasure hidden within the museum. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. You order and pay at the counter and pick up the food when it is ready. The seating area was clean and well-kept. It is nicely appointed with pictures of the 3 B’s that the city is known for: Biscuit, Beer, and Bulbs. The menu offers a nice variety of food options. From sandwiches to salads and tasty treats. The food is not only delicious but also reasonably priced, making it a good choice for a meal or snack. The staff was friendly and helpful, the prices were reasonable and the food was good. Overall the Pantry is a charming place to enjoy a tasty meal or snack either before or after you visit the museum. I enjoyed it and hope you do too.

  2. Excellent cafe inside the town hall and was a great discovery on our city break. The interior is spacious, clean and bright and a there is a good selection of sandwiches, paninis, salad, jacket potatoes, hot & cold drinks, cakes & pastries, cream teas etc. The food we had was good quality at what would consider great value with the low prices considering the cafe’s location. Recommended to visit, especially if visiting the adjoining Reading museum.

  3. At the time of the visit it resembled an octogenarian waiting room. At almost 70 i was (with the exception of the staff) the second youngest person there. I asked for the advertised cake of the day but there wasn’t one, the food offers remaining were limited, the dinning area was soleless. The flat white was more foam than a cappuccino, and without any notice they didn’t take my credit card. On approaching the counter, I was asked to get a table number. Considering the fairly vibrant coffee scene in Reading, this is an opertunity missed.

  4. This is a regular of mine. It’s located in the Town Hall on the quieter side of town, a 5 minute walk from the railway station. Good prices and a small but carefully presented selection of baked goods and simple meals. The staff are lovely. I’d give it 5 stars if the opening hours were longer and it opened on Sunday and Monday!

  5. Dropped in for a light lunch of tomato soup and a coffee. Soup and coffee very good. However, the roll served with soup was a very retro white tasteless variety I thought had died out years ago. Why serve this inedible pap when there’s so much good healthy tasty bread available now?
