  1. This is a lovely little diamond of a country pub with food ranking up there with the best of the best, the bar man was very friendly chatty person, and everyone one was very welcoming even the locals. There wasn’t enough room in the restaurant when we went, but we called in on the off chance, but we didn’t feel out if place eating in the bar. I would 100% recommend this place and look forward to returning. Well done to the whole team they are a real credit to you

  2. Beautiful pub with great food. I had the Cypriot halloumi fries (3 thick slices) to start which tasted delicious, even the salad did too which it came with. For the main, I had the oak smoked chicken & cider braised ham hock pie – one of the best pies I have ever eaten. The pastry was perfect and light. The pie was so full with filling it was definitely worth the money! The smoked cheddar mash was on top of the pie and the cabbage with the chicken velouté tasted lovely too. For dessert, I had the crème brûlée – this was delicious and a generous portion. The shortcake biscuit on the side was a nice accompaniment. I have only scored 4 stars for service as I had to wait for my dessert for a while whilst the rest of the table had theirs with no explanation. I had to ask a waitress (who I hadn’t seen before) who looked clueless and then proceeded to carry on in & out of the kitchen without acknowledging what I had asked and then seemed to remember when she saw me looking at her. I heard her mention at the bar something about “was it put through on the till?” with still no one updating me with what had happened. This did seem quite unprofessional as I just felt ignored but my dessert did eventually come out. A member of my family was also charged £3 extra for katsu curry that never came out with their meal but this was took off the bill when we mentioned it. Apart from this, the lady who took our orders at the table was lovely and friendly. The men who took us to our table, set it up and got us a child seat were also lovely and friendly. Overall, the food quality was amazing and I would definitely come back again to try some of the other dishes. There are toliet facilities which were clean. Car parking was free with plenty of spaces available. There is also an accessibility ramp to the main entrance.

  3. Food is always delicious here and good portions. The food is cooked fresh and to order, so there is sometimes a wait for the food, but better this way than bought-in, precooked meals. Good menu choice and the option for smaller plates, although these are always generous.

  4. First visit here for a birthday meal with a group of friends.

No one at the door on arrival to sit guests, but luckily some of my friends had found our table. Went to order a drink at the bar but was told someone would come over. Drinks were ordered at the table and served promptly.

On ordering, my first two choices of main courses were not available (pork belly and chicken pie), so I opted for the fish and chips. The pub was busy, but not all the tables were full, However, the food took 45 minutes to arrive. Everyone’s meal was lovely presented. The fish batter was a little soggy on the bottom, similar to that of the triple cooked chips that had no crunch. Would also have liked more of the homemade tartar sauce.

For dessert, I ordered the biscofff cheesecake. Again, it was lovely presented, but the hot toffee sauce just made it far too sweet.

We sat down at 6.30pm and we didn’t finish eating 2 courses till 9pm. The service of food was very slow, but the staff were polite and helpful. Would be reluctant to dine with children due to the long waits.
