  1. This restaurant and its menu may not be for everyone … but for me, it was simply perfect. All the way down to the location, decor, friendly and knowledgeable staff, to the friendly chefs and the magic they produce in the kitchen.

The stars of the show was the hostess Ruby, for whom was so charming and attentive, and executive chef Jonathan Woolway, who has brought over many influences from his time in London as chef director of St John’s.

Jonathan simply made our night when he made the effort after a long day to come over and chat with us. It made my night even more special!

If you get the opportunity, I highly recommend trying the kitchen counter, as this was a great experience seeing how the chefs prepare your food with such efficiency. However, take into consideration that this may not be suited for larger groups.

The Shed is on its way to achieving a Michelin star for sure, and it is well deserved and should be crowned the best restaurant South Wales has to offer!

In terms of value for money and the fact they have been in the Mechelin guide already in 4 months of being open, the prices are very good for the quantity and quality of food you receive.

I will be returning, and I can’t wait … you’re missing out if you have not been here yet!

  2. Thank you Hershey, Eve, Lucy and Chef Jonathan’s team for the extraordinary experience 🙂 the main was so tasty that I forgot to take a picture of it! Cockle croquettes were the best croquettes I’ve ever had, the ox heart’s and its sauce were marvellous and the parfait ice-cream with salt & olive oil unique and absolutely incredible. Tasty coffee on top and everyone super welcoming. What else can I say! Kudos. 👏

  3. Amazing staff. Great wine list. Romantic Waterside location.

Raw aubergine in a costly aubergine dish is a bit unfortunate though. Inedible, borderline dangerous.

Welsh Rarebit was just a small sad dry bit of cheese on toast.

at nearly 100 pounds a head it’s way over priced.

  4. A must visit restaurant in Swansea!

Set in a former industrial dock building, The Shed offers a warm atmosphere and a daily-changing menu that highlights the best local Welsh produce.

We enjoyed a sunny walk along the coast from Clyne Farm Centre to the restaurant, with a stop at the Marina Street Market (second Sunday of every month 10am to 3pm). The Shed’s location by the Prince of Wales Dock is great, and the friendly staff made us feel right at home. Chef Jonathan Woolway, formerly of London’s St. John, brings his passion for Welsh ingredients to every dish.

The menu changes daily, but highlights from our meal included Cockle Croquettes, a hearty Roast Bacon Chop, and Gower Seabass. For dessert, the Olive Oil Parfait was a unique, savoury treat, and the Yoghurt Panna Cotta was a refreshing finish. Everything was paired with a crisp white wine, making the meal feel indulgent and special.

The Shed is perfect for a special occasion or a memorable night out. If you’re staying at Clyne Farm Centre, it’ll be a holiday highlight. Highly recommended!

  5. We’re long time fans of Jonathan Woolway’s cooking and had a genuinely transformative meal when we first tried St John’s Smithfield years ago (lamb sweetbreads, peas, mint, shallots and bacon). We knew we had to come down to The Shed as soon as we feasibly could (our family is half Welsh) and our hopes were met in every single way and we brought our children, brother and nephew along to experience it too. The dining room is beautiful, the front of house staff attentive and knowledgeable, the open kitchen a delight to watch, and the menu varied and interesting without being obnoxious. There is so much flavour in the food — you can see the St John blueprint, but it’s much more of a celebration of Welshness and we are totally here for it. We’re also here for the 90s indie playlist! Thanking you and the team for an amazing meal. Hopefully see you again in the not too distant future.
