A rather quaint artisan type coffee oozing with a unique kind of atmosphere.
Serving a nice range of both food and drink it’s a lovely place to visit if you are looking for something with character and charm
If you like your crafts, books, looking to just be a part of the city yet retreat, this place really felt like that place.
Look forward to visiting again
The venue was cool and quirky, the staff were very friendly and welcoming and I loved the ethos of the place. We had the salted caramel cheesecake, red velvet cake, an iced matcha latte and an iced turmeric latte and they were delicious. This was our first time in Cambridge but we’ll definitely pay another visit in the future. Highly recommend.
I had a large glass of wine and a bowl of nachos with sauce. I won’t judge on the wine: it’s a light-coloured, and light tasting, Californian zinfandel. Wouldn’t be my first choice, but the only “red” wine from which to choose (odd in a town with so many excellent wine merchants that there’s no choice).
Food was “loaded” nachos with three-bean quinoa “chilli” and “cheeze” topping. The cheeze was like a layer of plastic, not my thing but worth trying once I guess. The three-bean quinoa topping was rather dry, give me an actual gooey salsa any day, and it was rather bland – didn’t have any flavours that turned me on at all and the chilli wasn’t very chilli. I opted for a few atoms of guacamole in an egg cup to go with it, this was ok too. However, the “tortilla chips” were as close to flavourless as I’ve ever had. They crunched, but that’s about all I can recommend about them. The dish is not recommended on that, and the dry “chilli”, basis … sorry.
Total price? a shade under £20. Worth it? Absolutely not. I appreciate the food is vegan – great! – but I had better (and much more!) vegan food in London for less yesterday, in an otherwise similar setting, and the overheads in Mayfair dwarf the costs in Cambridge. Friends who recommend the place said “it’s great, but pricey” and they were absolutely right. I can get double the number of nachos, with double the flavour, at my local pub for half the price.
The place? Pretty good. I had a table with a socket, at the back where it’s quiet, which was great as I had to work a bit while I ate. Other customers were worth talking to.
The staff? Seemed mostly friendly, but a mixed bag. The first person didn’t like that I’d dared to turn up at 1150 for lunch, told me I was too early, then the kitchen staff said “it’s fine” and I got my food anyway. The lack of flexibility for £20 for a bag of not-great tortilla chips and sauce means an average score, sorry Thrive but you’ll need to do better – for the price – if I’m to become a regular.
What a lovely place!! It is a must visit in Cambridge. Nice, fab and friendly service. Great foods and drink!! I had weekly special and one burger on the next day, they were both very delicious!! Very satisfying with good portion! Amazing cakes btw!! I like the vibe a lot and they are more than a place to chill and eat! I would highly recommend this place for trying plant based foods and nice coffee! on the 1st floor they have really good view of the road – super relaxing!
I’ve been here a few times and it’s always been nice.
The food is basic but good, the coffee is nice and the cakes are excellent.
Service is always good and not very slow considering how busy the place often is.
The atmosphere is good for the most part, but the tables in the front can feel a bit busy as there are often people moving around you when they come in and when they go to order. I recommend going upstairs if there are tables free.
