My partner and I wanted to have lunch at JL in the Oxford Westgate this Sunday 11/02/24. We bought the food at the counter and then tried to find a place where to sit. The ‘restaurant’ was a mess. Dirty floors, dirty plates and trays with food leftovers on almost every free table so much so that we struggled to find a place to seat which was sort of clean. JL up your game, as your standards have dropped to those of the pound shop. Though the prices haven’t ! Employ more staff or do whatever you need as the place was disgusting.
Good selection of cakes all the time. Sandwiches look nice but not enough variety. Fish and chips wasn’t worth having. Stick with cake and hot drinks and you will be fine. Weekdays isn’t very busy so that’s best time to go.
The staff behind the counter could do with some happy pills. Very rude. Asking for a pot of tea is clearly a chore. I am actually mortified!
It’s a lovely place at the top floor of the John Lewis store. Very neat and tidy. Nice view of Westgate from above. Good service. Very nice environment.
Food is good. I particularly loved their cheesecake. That was delicious. I also tried their hot chocolate and bagel. They were also good.
But the prices are a little high. The hot food options in particular are quite expensive.
Lunch wasn’t ready at 12.20. Small portions and very expensive. A lot of staff milling around and no organisation. My side salad was chucked on the plate as an after thought straight out of a bags
